In the Merry, Merry Month of May

April proved to be a blessed and busy month. My last email talked about some of the blessings, and they just continued to come. I posted a note on Facebook about the harmonica blessing.

This week I get to do a couple of shows with Roots and Branches. On Wednesday, the band will be at Westview Christian Church in Indianapolis, and on Thurday, we'll be at First Christian Church in Kokomo.

Speaking of Roots and Branches, please keep our lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Maynard Powell in your thoughts. Maynard is on the guitar-playing disabled list for a few weeks after breaking a finger in an automobile accident. He's doing okay after surgery to repair the broken middle finger of his left hand.

The finger is in a splint now, and all is going well, except for this past Sunday, when Maynard lifted his hand to give the benediction to his congregation, said, "The Lord be with you," and the congregation responded, "Same to you, buddy!" (Thanks, David L.!)

Promise Road Writers' Round

I have the privilege of being back at the Promise Road Writers' Round this Friday. The Promise Road Round meets at Promise Road Coffee, which is located in the gathering space of the Geist Christian Church North Campus, corner of 126th and Promise Road in Fishers. The round is in two sets 7:00-8:00 and 8:00-9:00. I'll be playing in the 8:00 set with Tim Gilger, host of the Writers' Round, and Cathy Howie, one of my favoritest people. I plan to be there at 7:00, though, to hear all the great music. I hope you'll be there, too!

The Bread Ladies

And The Bread Ladies is one of my favoritest places. I'll be back there a week from Friday. If you've never been to this cafe in downtown Greenfield, you owe it to yourself to pay them a visit. Come for the chicken salad, stay for the music. The Bread Ladies is located at 5 American Legion Place in Greenfield, across from the Hancock County Court House to the east. Come for the chicken salad; stay for the music. I'll be playing from 6:30 until 9:30.
