Musical ecumenicity

Occasionally, Sunday nights will find me in Middletown, Indiana, joining in a jam session in the basement of a church. That's where I was tonight.

What a musically ecumenical bunch we were tonight! We had two mandolins, two accordians, a dobro, a penny whistle, two harmonica players and a host of guitar players. In addition, several choir members from a nearby church joined us. We moved from A. P. Carter (Stand on the Rock Where Moses Stood) to Marshall Tucker (Can't You See) with a little bit of Beatles thrown in (a "Hey Jude" solo on Can't You See).

All in all, it was a great cap to the weekend, some sacred space time that can be hard to come by in my line of work.

Peace.
